19To fit the main oven shelvesThe shelves should be fitted with the straightrods uppermost on the frame and the formstowards the back of the oven. If not fittedcorrectly the anti-tilt and safety stopmechanism will be affected.Hints and tips• Arrange the shelves in the requiredpositions before switching the oven on.Shelf positions are numbered from thebottom upwards.• When cooking more than one dish inthe oven, place dishes centrally ondifferent shelves rather than clusterseveral dishes on one shelf, this willallow the heat to circulate freely for thebest cooking results.• When batch baking one type of food,e.g. Victoria sandwich cakes, those ofsimilar size will be cooked in the sametime.• It is recommended that when bakinglarger quantities the shelf positionsshould be evenly spaced to suit theload being cooked. A slight increase incooking time may be necessary.• Do not place baking trays directly onthe oven base as it interferes with theoven air circulation and can lead tobase burning; use the lower shelfposition.Do not place cookware and cookingpots with rough bases e.g. cast ironon the oven door as damage to theglass may occur.
