16To fit the second oven shelfOnly use the shelf with the solid metal plateat the rear of the shelf in the second oven. The shelf should be fitted with the straightrods uppermost on the frame and the formstowards the back of the oven. If not fittedcorrectly the anti-tilt and safety stopmechanism will be affected.Hints and tips• Arrange the shelves in the requiredpositions before switching the oven on.Shelf positions are counted from the topdownwards.• Ensure that food is placed centrally onthe shelf and there is sufficient roomaround the baking tray/dish to allow formaximum circulation.• Do not push dishes too far back as foodwill burn if it overhangs the burner flame• Stand dishes on a suitably sized bakingtray on the shelf to prevent spillage ontothe oven base and to help reducecleaning.• The material and finish of the bakingtray and dishes used affect basebrowning. Enamelware, dark, heavy ornon-stick utensils increase basebrowning. Shiny aluminium or polishedsteel trays reflect the heat away andgive less base browning.• Do not place baking trays directly onthe oven base as it interferes with theoven air circulation and can lead tobase burning; use the lower shelfposition.• For economy leave the door open forthe shortest possible time, particularlywhen placing food into a pre-heatedoven.Do not place cookware and cookingpots with rough bases e.g. cast ironon the oven door as damage to theglass may occur.
