The saucepan baseshould be approximately the same size as thecooking area.• Ensure that new saucepans are well scrubbedto remove edges and take off any deposits leftfrom manufacture.• Traditional round-bottomed Woks must not beused even with a stand. Woks with flat-bottomed bases are available and do complywith the above recommendations. Occasionally the heated areas may be seento switch on and off when higher heatsettings are being used. This is due to asafety device, which prevents the glass fromoverheating.• Some switching on and off when cooking athigh temperatures, e.g. deep fat frying is quitenormal, causes no damage to the hob and littledelay in cooking times.• Excessive switching may however be causedby the use of an unsuitable saucepan or asaucepan which is smaller than the heatedarea. If excessive switching occurs,discontinue use of the saucepan.Hints and tips when using thehob• Lift, rather than slide saucepans on and off thehob. This will reduce the risk of scratches andmetal marks from saucepans with aluminiumbases. Metal marks can be easily cleaned offproviding they are not allowed to burn on.• Follow any guidelines provided by thesaucepan manufacturer, particularly thoserelating to recommended heat settings.
