The hob11Cleaning the hotplatesRemove spillages as soon as possible, to prevent themfrom burning onto the hotplate. Soilage impairs thetransfer of heat to the pan.Cleaning and anti-corrosion treatment1 Clean the hotplates thoroughly with soapimpreg-nated steel-wool. Wash off all traces of soap, anddry using paper towels.2 When the hotplates are cold and dry, apply an evenlayer of the anti-corrosion product to each. Thisproduct is available from Electrolux dealers.3 The product now needs to be heated on the hot-plates. Heat one hotplate at a time on full power forno more than five minutes. Some smoke and fumesare to be expected as the remaining solvent evapo-rates.4 Use white spirit to remove any traces of the producton your hands or (after the cooker has cooled) onthe cooker enamel.Functions for safetyThe cooker function lockThere is a lock built in to the oven’s thermostat controlwith two safety positions. You can choose whether to usethe lock with single or double safety or not at all. NOTE !The main power supply to the cooker is still connected.LOCK ONE: The power to the hotplates and oven isdisconnected when the thermostat control is turned toOFF.LOCK TWO : When the lock button is also activated,two hands are needed to turn the cooker on. Thismakes it particularly difficult for children to “use” thecooker.Lock OneLOCK THE COOKER LIKE THIS (see illustration A):Turn the thermostat control anti clockwise to OFF.WHEN YOU WANT TO USE THE COOKER :1 Turn the control clockwise to zero (i.e. turn thecontrol back to the 12 o’clock position).2 The cooker can be used as normal. Make sure nofunctions other than the one/those you want touse are turned on. (Someone may have turned acontrol while the lock was activated).max. 5 min.
