35Exposed unit touch-upand repaintingExposed cabinet units will be furnishedwith an epoxy powder coated paintfinish. Small scratches in the finishmay be repaired with touch-up spraypaint available from the factory.Proper safety procedures shouldbe followed regarding ventilationand personal safety equipmentwhen using spray paint. Follow themanufacturer’s directions for theproducts being used.To repaint the factory powder coatfinish, prepare the surface by lightlysanding with #280 grit sand paper or#000 or #0000 fine steel wool. Thesurface may also be wiped with aliquid surface etch cleaning product. These items should be availableat most paint product stores. Itshould be noted that the more caretaken during this process, the moreeffective it will be.After this preparation is finished, the factory finish should provideexcellent adhesion for a variety ofair dried top coats. Enamel will givea more durable, higher gloss finish, while latex will not adhere as welland will give a dull, softer finish.Top coats involving an exothermicchemical process between twocomponents such as epoxies andurethanes should be avoided. All standard colors including primercan be painted over. If the installingcontractor chooses not to paint overthe primer color, the factory cannotmatch primer color on future orders, potentially causing color matchissues in the field.Factory touch-up spray paint mayrequire a number of light coats toisolate the factory finish from thequick drying touch-up paint.Start-up generalBefore beginning any start-up, the start-up personnelshould take the time tofamiliarize themselves withthe unit, options, accessoriesand control sequence to fullyunderstand how the unit shouldoperate properly under normalconditions.
