Make sure the cable line issecurely connected to the cable jack on the back of themodem. Verify that the RJ-45 cable is securely pluggedinto both the modem and the network interface card.Make sure the power adapter is properly plugged intothe modem and into a wall outlet or surge protector. Ifthe cable modem is properly connected, the CableModem Power, Cable Modem Status, and Link Statusindicator lights on the front of the modem should all bea solid color. Power cycle the cable modem by unplugging the powerjack from its electrical outlet and then plugging it backinto the outlet. Then try reconnecting to your cableservice provider. Call your cable service provider to verify that theirservice is two-way. This modem is designed for use withtwo-way cable plants. The network interface card or USB network interfacemay be malfunctioning. Refer to its documentation fortroubleshooting information. If you are using a cable line splitter so that you canconnect the cable modem and a television at the sametime, try removing the splitter and reconnecting thecables so that the cable modem is connected directly tothe cable wall jack. Then try reconnecting to your cableservice provider. Check for a resource conflict. To do this, right-click theMy Computer icon on the Windows desktop. Then clickProperties. Click the Device Manager tab and look for ayellow exclamation point or red X over the NIC in theNetwork adapters field. If you see either, you have anIRQ conflict. Refer to the manufacturer’s documentationthat came with your network interface card. Make sure that TCP/IP is the default protocol in use byyour computer. Release and renew the computer’s IP address.
