Be sure that pump operates in the directionindicated by the arrow on the pump casing.Check rotation each time motor leads havebeen disconnected.2. Check all connections of motor andstarting device with wiring diagram. Checkvoltage, phase and frequency of line circuitwith motor name plate.3. Check suction and discharge piping andpressure gauges for proper operation.4. Turn rotating element by hand to assurethat it rotates freely.Running:Periodically inspect pump while running, butespecially after initial start-up and afterrepairs.1. Check pump and piping for leaks. Repairimmediately.2. Record pressure gauge readings for futurereference.3. Record voltage, amperage per phase, andkW.Pump/Fan Motor MaintenanceCleaning - Remove oil, dust, water, andchemicals from exterior of motor and pump.Keep motor air inlet and outlet open. Blowout interior of open motors with cleancompressed air at low pressure.Labeled Motors - It is imperative for repair ofa motor with Underwriters’ Laboratorieslabel that original clearances be held; that allplugs, screws, other hardware be fastenedsecurely, and that parts replacements be exactduplicates or approved equals.
