ACH550-UH User’s Manual 1-13InstallationSuitable environment and enclosureConfirm that the site meets the environmental requirements. To prevent damageprior to installation, store and transport the drive according to the environmentalrequirements specified for storage and transportation. See Ambient conditions onpage 1-326.Confirm that the enclosure is appropriate, based on the site contamination level:• UL type 1 enclosure. The site must be free of airborne dust, corrosive gases orliquids, and conductive contaminants such as condensation, carbon dust, andmetallic particles.• UL type 12 enclosure. This enclosure provides a degree of protection againstfalling dirt; against circulating dust; and against dripping and light splashing ofnon-corrosive liquids.Suitable mounting locationConfirm that the mounting location meets the following constraints:• R1…R6: The drive must be mounted vertically on a smooth, solid surface, and ina suitable environment as defined above.• The drive must be located in a suitable environment as defined above.• The minimum space requirements for the drive are the outside dimensions (seeOutside dimensions – R1…R6 on page 1-323 or Outside dimensions – R7…R8on page 1-324), plus air flow space around the unit (see Cooling on page 1-318).• The distance between the motor and the drive is limited by the maximum motorcable length. See either Motor connection specifications on page 1-309, orEN 61800-3 compliant motor cables on page 1-312.• The mounting site must support the drive’s weight. See Weight on page 1-322.Installing the driveWARNING! Before installing the ACH550, ensure the input power supply to the driveis off.WARNING! Metal shavings or debris in the enclosure can damage electricalequipment and create a hazardous condition. Where parts, such as conduit platesrequire cutting or drilling, first remove the part. If that is not practical, cover nearbyelectrical components to protect them from all shavings or debris.
