ACS/ACC/ACP 604/607 Frequency Converters3-1Chapter 3 – Electrical InstallationWARNING! The electrical installation described in this chapter shouldonly be carried out by a qualified electrician. TheSafety Instructions onthe first pages of this manual must be followed. Negligence of theseinstructions can cause injury or death.Insulation Checks Every ACx 600 unit has been tested for insulation between main circuitand chassis (2500 V rms 50 Hz for 1 second) at the factory. Thereforethere is no need to check the insulation on the unit again. Whenchecking the insulation of the assembly, proceed in the followingmanner:WARNING! Insulation checks must be performed before connectingthe ACx 600 to the mains. Before proceeding with the insulationresistance measurements make sure that the ACx 600 is disconnectedfrom the mains.1. Check that the motor cable is disconnected from the ACx 600output terminals U2, V2 and W2.2. Measure the insulation resistances of motor cable and the motorbetween each phase and Protective Earth with measuring voltage1 kV d.c. The insulation resistance must be greater than 1 MΩ.Mains Fuses Fuses are needed to protect the input bridge of the ACx 600 in case ofan internal short circuit. The ACx 607 is equipped with internal inputfuses introduced inAppendix A. The ACx 604 is not equipped withinput fuses. When installing the ACx 604, you must always connect thesupply via ultrarapid fuses given inAppendix A.If a fuse is blown, it must not be replaced with a normal slow fuse ratedaccording toAppendix A. An ultrarapid fuse must be used. The ACx 600 protects the input and motor cables from overload whenthe cables are dimensioned according to the nominal current ofACx 600. When the ultrarapid fuses of ACx 604 are placed at thedistribution board, they protect the input cable in case of a short circuit.PEΩM
