1MRS750881-MUM REC 52319Remote Monitoring and Control UnitTechnical Reference Manual5. Functional description5.1. REC 523 functionsThe functions of REC 523 are categorized as:ï Measurement functionsï Control functionsï Protection and fault indication functionsï Condition monitoring functionsï Power quality functionsï Communication functionsï Standard functionsï General functions5.1.1. Measurement functionsCurrent measurement can be based on Rogowski coils or conventional currenttransformers. Correspondingly, voltage dividers or voltage transformers are used forvoltage-based measurement.Measurement functions are available, for example, for three-phase currents, neutralcurrent, three-phase voltages, residual voltage, frequency, and active and reactivepower. One REC 523 device can be used to measure 2 feeders or branches by meansof 9 analogue channels.Furthermore, REC 523 incorporates environmental temperature and battery voltagemeasurements. The values measured can be forwarded to the control centre. The measurement function blocks are documented on the CD-ROM TechnicalDescriptions of Functions (refer to Section 1.8.
