1MRS750881-MUM REC 52325Remote Monitoring and Control UnitTechnical Reference ManualThe auxiliary voltages of the PSC versions are:ï PSC1:Operating range 80...265 V AC or DC.ï PSC2:Operating range 18...80 V DC.The primary side of the power supply module is protected with a fuse located on theprinted circuit board of the module. The power supply also provides a 12 V DC output voltage to an externalcommunication device, for example, a radio telephone. The maximum peak outputcurrent is 7A with batteries and 1A without batteries. This is sufficient for mostconventional radio telephones or radio links. For further technical data of the power supply, refer to Section 7.1. Technical data.5.2.2. Power backupPower backup for the station can be arranged by connecting 24 V (2 x 12 V) sealedlead acid batteries to the REC 523 device. The batteries supply the REC 523 deviceand the communication device during a mains failure. Thus the communicationbetween the device and a network control centre operates in any situation.Depending on the application and the required maximum operation time, batteriesof 17 Ah or 24 Ah are normally used. Tests performed show an operation time ofabout 36 hours for a 17 Ah battery and 60 hours for a 24 Ah battery at an ambienttemperature of +20 ∞C. The average consumption of the communication deviceduring the test was 200 mA.A low temperature reduces the capacity of the batteries and the operate time. Theapproximate maximum operate time versus temperature can be estimated as shownin the following figure.
