2 61291006L2-5BSection 61291006L2, Issue 22. OPTIONSSelect the appropriate OPTIONS and RATE usingSW1 and faceplate switches as illustrated in Figure 3and Figure 4.CAUTIONSelect only one option rate. Rate is selected onfaceplate switch SW2 by pushing one or twoswitches to the right toward the inscribedrates. If either SW56 or 64 is selected, thesecondary channel (SC) switch may not beselected.A/B SignalingWhen A/B Signaling (SW1-1) is OFF, the unit derivessignaling from the incoming data stream. When A/Bsignaling is ON, the unit determines the state of the Aand B signaling bits using signals present on thebackplane of the channel bank. This method assumesthat proper signaling has been maintained throughoutnetwork tandems and cross connect systems.NOTEA/B option is only applicable when SW56 isselected; otherwise the option is a “don’t care.”Quality MonitorWhen Quality Monitor (SW1-2) is ON, the unitmonitors the incoming two-wire loop and four-wirecustomer interface data for errors. If excessive errorsare detected, the unit blocks customer datatransmission and sends Abnormal Station Code to thenetwork. Customer data transmission is automaticallyrestored when the trouble condition is cleared. TheQuality Monitor feature is recommended for use onmultipoint circuits.NOTEDo not use in SLC-96 Mode II unless unit isprovisioned through Digital System-6.NOTEThe TROCU DP must be used with anappropriate TRDDS-R unit.FeaturesIn addition to operation over extended ranges theTROCU DP incorporates or supports the following:• Two-wire deployment.• Repeaterless operation.• Bridged tap tolerant• Span power for remote TRDDS-R terminationunit.• Utilization in all D4 channel bank and SLC-96Mode I or III remote terminal applications.• NEAR and FAR logic level bantam test access.• Loop Quality Monitor and A/B signalingoptions.• Embedded Digital System 6 capabilities forremote provisioning, configuration, andperformance monitoring.Line CodeThe ADTRAN TRDDS incorporates Simple Coded-Pulse Amplitude Modulation (SC PAM), a line codethat reduces the bandwidth needed to transport signalsover copper loops. The Power Spectrum Density(PSD) of SC PAM complies with Basic Rate Interface(BRI) PSD mask as specified in ANSI T1.601 and isbelow allowable 2B1Q PSD levels. SC PAMincreases the deployment ranges and allowablebridged tap lengths when compared to AMI and2B1Q. Additionally, SC PAM has an improvedspectral compatibility when compared to AMI and2B1Q.Sealing CurrentThe TROCU DP provides a constant 10 mA sealingcurrent to the TRDDS-R. With 10 mA sealing currentand span power of -130 Vdc, ADTRAN’s TRDDSsystem is in the A3 Class as specified in BellcoreTR-NWT-001089, Standard for Electrical Safety forNetwork Telecommunications Equipment.
