TEST FEATURESThe FXS/DPO supports the following tests for eachport:ï Digital Network Loopbackï 1004 Hz Tone Generationï Network Hook Testï Customer Ringing TestThese test are used to support circuit turn-up andmaintenance efforts. Test functions can be activatedlocally via the ADMIN port on the SCU, or remotely viaTelnet or SNMP and are initiated on an individual portbasis. The test are described below.Digital Network Loopback TestThe Digital Network Loopback test activates aloopback path that takes the DS0 data received from thenetwork and transmits it back to the network in theappropriate transmit time slot.1004 Hz Tone Generation TestThe 1004 Hz Tone Generation Test generates a 1004 HzDigital Reference Signal (DRS) tone toward the T1network (0 dBm fixed), toward the customer loop (RXTLP setting), or both directions simultaneously. Whilesending the DRS tone toward the customer loop thetransmit audio path (towards the T1 network) will beinterrupted.Network Hook TestThe Network Hook Test forces the AB signaling statestowards the T1 network. The bits are set based upon theoperating mode of the channel unit.Customer Ringing TestThe Customer Ringing Test will activate the ports ringrelay in a 2-second on and 4-second off cadence,providing ringing toward the customerís loop.NOTEThe tests cannot run simultaneously. If a test isin progress and another test is initiated, the firsttest will be terminated when the new test starts.5. MAINTENANCEThe Total Access FXS/DPO does not require routinemaintenance for normal operation.ADTRAN does not recommend that repairs beattempted in the field. Repair services may be obtainedby returning the defective unit to ADTRAN. Refer tothe Warranty and Customer Service section for furtherinformation.6.
