The two controller cardsalso provide built-in 1:1 redundancy forthe DS1 and STS-1 signals as well asredundant STS-1 connections. Advancediagnostics include CSU loopbacks, NIUloopbacks and built-in BERT (Bit ErrorRate Testing). A fully connectorizedbackplane means no wire wrapping andquick, easy installation. Accessories avail-able for the MX2800 STS-1 include aDSX-1 patch panel that breaks out the 28DSX-1s into 28 individual RJ48 interfacesand a battery backup system that provides8 hours of battery backup. By utilizing theoptional fan module, up to 40 MX2800scan be mounted into a standard 7 footrack.As with all ADTRAN products, theMX2800 STS-1 offers comprehensivemanagement options. It features a VT100terminal interface for local configuration.To support SNMP, Telnet and TL1 alarm-ing management, the MX2800 STS-1 hasan integrated 10BaseT Ethernet port.Carriers looking to maximize theircopper investment and consolidate theirservices in the most efficient manner willfind the MX2800 STS-1 will pay off quickly.Class 5 switches that have STS-1 voiceinterfaces can easily be converted to DSX-1interfaces using the MX2800.
