– 29 –Choosing a locationSmoke alarms should be regarded as a minimum level of equipment RWM in allsleeping rooms, children’s rooms and corridors or passages used as escape routes;one alarm should be fitted in the centre of each room, always on the ceiling (no wallmounting / Fig. 2). Select the highest point in the room for mounting, with a mini-mum distance of 50 cm from any wall, furniture or lamps. In the case of slopingceilings with an angle of over 20°, detectors should be installed 0.5 - 1 m awayfrom the highest point. Your installation is optimised RWM by also installing thedevices in all other rooms as well as on all landings.
