158 CHAPTER 12Tips and tricksBANK/PROGRAM CHANGE VIA SYSEXA bank or program change can be initiated via aSysEx command. These commands are inde-pendent of MIDI channels as well as all otherSysEx parameter changes. SysEx programchanges are always carried out irrespective ofwhether or not the normal program change isdisabled.PRIORITYThis parameter lets you control how the VI-RUS“steals notes when its polyphonic perform-ance is maxed out. In the first position, "LOW",the voices of all PARTs have the same prioritywhen one voice is switched off to accommo-date a new voice. When you set the Priority of aPART to "High", the VIRUS will not “steal” anynotes from the voices of this PART. Use this pa-rameter sparingly. In other words, if you set allParts to High, you’re defeating the purpose ofthis parameter. In this case, it wouldn’t have anyeffect since the priority of all voices is the same.011111111111111111121 A0 OvertureCKPriority Low≤61111111111111111154 HOW TO INSTALL UPDATESTHE 1024 SOUNDS UPDATEThe Virus operating system consists of twoparts. They can be loaded (or "burned") into theVirus separately. The first part includes the operating system it-self, while the second part carries the 256 ROMsounds (Bank C and D) as well as the dem-osong.That second part can be replaced by a soundexpansion, so that finally 768 ROM sounds areavailable. The demosong is overwritten by thisprocedure. But you wouldn't need it anymore,we guess. The file with the addtinonal soundscan be found on the CD included, with the filename "SECONDxxx.MID".You can load this file similar to a operating sys-tem update (see below). There is no risk to damage the Virus by wrongor corrupted data. The Virus will simply not ac-cept those data.PART BANKSELECT ( t h echange is execut-e d o n l y w h e n aprogram changecommand is re-ceived)F0,00,20,33,01,10,72,pp,1F,vv,F7PART BANKCHANGE ( t h echange is execut-ed immediately)F0,00,20,33,01,10,72,pp,20,vv,F7PART PRO-GRAMCHANGEF0,00,20,33,01,10,72,pp,21,vv,F7MULTI PRO-GRAMCHANGEF0,00,20,33,01,10,72,00,69,vv,F7pp: Part Number from00 to 0F (0 - 15), vv:Program Number from00 to 7F (0-127)
