34 Axis video server - Event configurationEvent typesAn event type is a set ofparameters describing howand when the video serveris to perform certainactions.Example: If somebody walks pastthe connected camera, and an eventhas been configured to act on this,the video server can e.g. record andsend video images to an FTP server, or send a notification email to a pre-configured email address with a pre-con-figured message. Video images can be sent as an attachment with the email.Triggered EventA triggered event is activated by e.g:• a pushbutton connected to an input port on the video server• detected movement in a configured motion detection window• a lost signal from a video source• a manual action e.g. clicking the trigger button in the web interface• on restart (reboot) after e.g. power lossHow to set up a triggered eventThis example describes how to set the Axis video server to upload images when the maindoor is opened:1. Click Add triggered on the Event types page.2. Enter a descriptive name for the event, e.g. Main door.3. Set the priority - High, Normal or Low (see online help files).4. Select the Video Source the event is to act on, e.g. Video 1 on Main door (AXIS241Q/QA only).5. Set the Respond to Trigger... parameters when the event is to be active,e.g. only after office hours6. Select the trigger alternative from the Triggered by... drop-down list,e.g. an Input port with a connected sensor if the door is opened.7. Set the When Triggered... parameters, i.e. set what the video server should do ifthe main door is opened, e.g. upload images to an FTP server.8.
