Data Communication Settings45Auxiliary Serial PortThis group determines the communication through the Auxiliary Serial Port (RS232 only). This port is also available toMULTIDATA Slave scanners.Search for TCNM-ACBB Backup Module at Device StartupIf enabled (checked), at startup, the scanner sends a message to recognize the presence of, and communicate with,the Backup Module. If using the Backup Module, this parameter must be enabled (checked).NOTEDisable this parameter if the Backup Module is not used and the Host must not receive data atstartup.Data TXIf enabled (checked), data from the scanner will be transmitted on the Auxiliary Serial Port.HeartbeatThis parameter enables/disables transmission of the Heartbeat message used to signal device or system status atregular intervals. The Heartbeat message is independent from Data Tx and can be enabled even if data is not sent onthe Auxiliary Serial Port (Data Tx - disabled).Selections: Disable the Heartbeat message is not transmittedEnable Unconditioned the Heartbeat message is always transmitted, even ifcommunication is still activeEnable Conditioned the Heartbeat message is transmitted only when there is nocommunicationPass ThroughIt enables/disables the Pass Through options.HeartbeatThe following parameters allow configuring the Heartbeat message for communication through the Auxiliary Port.The Heartbeat message is used to signal the device's or system's status at regular intervals to the Host. It has thefollowing format:TimeoutThis parameter defines the amount of time between two message transmissions. If the selected time out expires andno transmission has occurred, the Heartbeat message will be transmitted.Heartbeat Header StringThis parameter signals the beginning of the Heartbeat message. It can be a string of up to 128 characters.Selections: characters from NUL (00H) to ~ (7EH)The Heartbeat Header String should be different from the Heartbeat Terminator String.
