88Navigation OperationNavigation OperationWhat is Navigation?The term "navigation" (lat. navigare = to travel by sea) is gen-erally understood to mean the location of a vehicle, the deter-mination of the direction and distance from the desireddestination and the required route. As navigation aids, stars,prominent landmarks, compass and satellites are used.With OnlinePro, location is determined by the GPS receiver(GPS = Global Positioning System). The direction and dis-tance from the destination is determined using a digital streetmap, a navigation computer and sensors. A speedometer andreverse signal are additionally used to calculate the route.For safety reasons, route guidance follows predominantly inspoken form supported by a direction indicator on the display.Safety Instructions- Road traffic regulations always take priority. The naviga-tion system is only an aid. Errors may occur in individualdata items/entries. At all times, the driver must decidewhether or not to heed the information provided.We do not accept liability for erroneous data provided bythe navigation system.- Observation of traffic signs and local traffic regulationsalways takes priority- Traffic guidance is restricted to passenger vehicles. Spe-cial driving recommendations and regulations for othervehicles (e.g. commercial vehicles) are not taken into ac-count.- The destination must only be entered when the vehicle isstationary.G
