The Full Duplex Configuration ScreenDELHF-UA User’s Guide3-273.9.1 Full Duplex FDDIFull duplex FDDI is the creation of a 200 Mbps point-to-point linkbetween two FDDI devices that support full duplex FDDI operation. Fullduplex FDDI is a technology where the end devices simultaneouslytransmit and receive data at 100 Mbps. For the DELHF-UA to operate infull duplex mode, specific criteria must be met. Before configuring theDELHF-UA to operate in full duplex mode, ensure that the networkconfiguration meets the following requirements.• The FDDI device that connects to the DELHF-UA must be aDIGITAL product that supports full duplex FDDI (e.g., anotherDELHF-UA).• Full duplex FDDI is a point-to-point link between two devices thatsupport full duplex operation. No other stations may be present on thering. If a third station is added, the DELHF-UA automatically returnsto standard FDDI operation.• There must be two FPIMs installed in the DELHF-UA to connect tothe other full duplex FDDI device. To operate in full duplex mode, oneport transmits data while the other receives data simultaneously.DIGITAL recommends that the connection between the two devicesbe made from the A port of one device, to the B port of the other. To configure the DELHF-UA to operate in full duplex mode, twoFPIMs MUST be installed in the DELHF-UA.
