Airbags are designed to inflateonly once. After an airbaginflates, you will need some newparts for the airbag system.If you do not get them, theairbag system will not be thereto help protect you in anothercrash. A new system will includeairbag modules and possiblyother parts. The service manualfor your vehicle covers the needto replace other parts.. The vehicle has a crash sensingand diagnostic module whichrecords information after acrash. See Vehicle DataRecording and Privacy onpage 13‑1.. Let only qualified technicianswork on the airbag systems.Improper service can mean thatan airbag system will not workproperly. See your dealer forservice.Passenger SensingSystemIf the vehicle has the passengerairbag status indicator pictured inthe following illustration, then thevehicle has a passenger sensingsystem for the front passengerposition. The passenger airbagstatus indicator, if equipped, isvisible on the overhead consolewhen the vehicle is started.In addition, if the vehicle has apassenger sensing system for thefront passenger position, the labelon the vehicle's sun visors refers to"ADVANCED AIRBAGS".The symbol for on and off is visibleduring the system check. If you areusing remote start, if equipped, tostart the vehicle from a distance,you may not see the system check.When the system check iscomplete, either the symbol for onor off will be visible. See PassengerAirbag Status Indicator onpage 5‑14.The passenger sensing system willturn off the front passenger frontalairbag under certain conditions. Thedriver airbag, seat-mounted sideimpact airbags (if equipped) and theroof-rail airbags are not affected bythe passenger sensing system.
