Do not usesilicone or DOT-5 brake fluids.CautionRemoving the splash shield candegrade wet brakingperformance, as well as introducebrake pedal pulsation, due tobrake disc exposure to roaddebris. Only remove the frontbrake disc splash shield and fronttire deflector when driving in trackevents.Brake cooling can be improved ifthe front brake disc splash shieldand front tire deflector are removed.Removing the shield will require thatthe suspension bushings visible tothe brake disc be protected withinsulated thermal wrapping.Brake BurnishingTo prepare the V-Sport and V-Seriesbrake systems for track events andracing, complete the appropriatehigh performance brake burnishingprocedure described below.V-Sport and V-Series BrakeBurnishingNew brake pads must be burnishedbefore racing or other competitivedriving.CautionThese procedures are specific tothe V-Sport and V-Series brakepackage. This procedure shouldnot be run on other models asdamage may result.CautionThe new vehicle break-in periodshould be completed beforeperforming the brake burnishing(Continued)Caution (Continued)procedure or damage may occurto the powertrain/engine. SeeNew Vehicle Break-In 0 202.When performed as instructed, thisprocedure will not damage thebrakes. During the burnishingprocedure, the brake pads willsmoke and produce an odor. Thebraking force and pedal travel mayincrease. After the procedure iscomplete, the brake pads mayappear white at the rotor contact.Run this procedure in a safemanner and in compliance with alllocal and state ordinances/lawsregarding motor vehicle operation.Run this procedure only on drypavement.
