Whenusing APA, you must still shift gears,and control the brakes andaccelerator. The Driver informationCenter (DIC) and audible beepshelp to guide parking maneuvers.{ WarningAPA does not apply the brakes.APA may not detect objects in theparking space, objects that aresoft or narrow, objects high off theground such as flatbed trucks,or objects below ground levelsuch as large potholes. Alwaysverify that the parking space isappropriate for parking a vehicle.APA does not respond to changesin the parking space, such asmovement of an adjacent vehicle,or a person or object entering theparking space. APA does notdetect or avoid traffic that isbehind or alongside of thevehicle. Always be prepared tostop the vehicle during theparking maneuver.The system is available when thevehicle speed is below30 km/h (18 mph). Press the APAbutton, O, to enable the system tobegin searching for a space that islarge enough to park in. The systemcannot detect whether it is a legalparking space. The vehicle may notalign properly to angled parkingspots and the system may havedifficulty sensing short curbs.If the vehicle is equipped withperpendicular parking mode, pressand hold the APA button during thesearch process to switch the APAparking mode betweenperpendicular and parallel parking.APA searches for parking spaces tothe right of the vehicle. To search fora parking space to the left, turn onthe left turn signal.
