Configuration is accomplishedvia a “daisy-chain” technique using RS-485 connections.A multi-unit interface kit containing all requireditems for multi-unit configuration is availablefrom CANNON® (Catalogue # 9728-R40 for120V units; #9728-R45 for240V units).Placement of multiple units The practical “hands-on”realities of viscosity and yieldstress testing suggest orienta-tion of CMRV units in closeproximity with the computercontrolling the testing. Appro-priate cables(8' lengths) are provided withthe interface kit for thispurpose.ProcedureUsing the interface kit provided by CANNON®, complete the multi-unitconfiguration as follows:1. Make sure the power is switched off to the computer and all instru-ments to be configured.2. Locate the RS-232 to RS-485 converter provided with the interfacekit.3. Plug the converter’s RS-232 25-pin connector into the COM portyou selected for multi-unit configuration during installation of theCMRV software. If you are using COM 1, a DB-25 to 9-pin adaptormay be required.4. Select a CMRV unit as the first in the “daisy chain” and attach theCAT-5 cable to the RS-485 connection marked IN on the first CMRVchassis (see diagram, next page):CHAPTERD APPENDIX D —MULTI-UNIT CONFIGURATION
