Consult your dealeror a Canon Service Center if the problem persists.Power Source• The camcorder will not turn on or itturns off by itself.• The disc compartment cover will notopen.• The LCD/viewfinder switches on andoff.- Battery pack is exhausted. Replace orcharge the battery pack ( 16).- Attach the battery pack correctly.- Use the compact power adapter.The charge indicator flashes rapidly.- (one flash at 0.5-secondintervals)Charging has stopped because thecompact power adapter or the batterypack is faulty. Consult a Canon ServiceCenter.- (two quick flashes at1-second intervals)Battery pack at least 50% charged( 17). This is not a malfunction.• Battery pack will not charge.• The charge indicator flashes veryslowly (one flash at 2-second intervals).- Charge the battery pack intemperatures between 0 °C and 40 °C.- Battery packs become hot with use andmay not charge. When the battery packis outside the charging temperaturerange, the CHARGE indicator will flashirregularly. The charging will start oncethe battery pack temperature is below40 °C.- The battery pack is damaged. Use adifferent battery pack.- If you connect a faulty power adapter orbattery pack, the CHARGE indicatorflashes approx. twice per second andthe charging stops.- Check that the compact power adapteris correctly connected to thecamcorder.Camcorder is on but is unresponsive.- The camcorder has exceeded itsoperational temperature ( appears).Turn off the camcorder and let it cooldown before resuming use.Recording/PlaybackButtons will not work.- Turn on the camcorder.- Load a disc ( 23).Abnormal characters appear on thescreen. The camcorder does not operateproperly.- Disconnect the power source andreconnect it after a short time. If theproblem still persists, disconnect thepower source and press the RESETbutton with a pointed item. Pressing theRESET button resets all settings.appears on the screen.- Load a disc ( 23).appears on the screen.- Battery pack is exhausted.
