101• Check the direction before insertingthe memory card. Forcing a memorycard into the slot if it is not correctlyoriented may damage the memorycard or the camcorder.• Do not attach any labels or stickerson the memory card.• SD/SDHC memory cards have aphysical switch to prevent writing onthe card so as to avoid the accidentalerasure of the card’s content. To writeprotect the memory card, set theswitch to the LOCK position.Built-in Rechargeable Lithium BatteryThe camcorder has a built-inrechargeable lithium battery to keep thedate/time and other settings. The built-in lithium battery is recharged while youuse the camcorder; however, it willbecome totally discharged if you do notuse the camcorder for about 3 months.To recharge the built-in lithium battery:Connect the compact power adapter tothe camcorder and leave it connectedfor about 24 hours with the camcorderoff.DisposalWhen you delete movies or initialize thebuilt-in memory ( / only) ormemory card, only the file allocationtable is altered and stored data is notphysically erased. Take the necessaryprecautions when you dispose of thecamcorder or memory card, forexample by physically damaging it toprevent the leakage of private data./ If giving the camcorderto another person, initialize the built-inmemory using the [COMPL.INIT.]setting ( 31), fill it up withunimportant recordings, and theninitialize it again using the samemethod.
