Make sure to transferyour recordings to an external devicesuch as a computer or digital videorecorder ( 82) and back them upon a regular basis and especially aftermaking important recordings. This willprotect your important recordings incase of damage and create more freespace on the hard disk or memorycard. Canon shall not be liable for anydata loss.• Do not subject the camcorder tovibrations or strong impacts. Thehard disk is a high-precision device.Vibrations, strong impacts ordropping the camcorder may result inthe hard disk not being recognized ormay cause recording/playback tostop unexpectedly. Be especiallycareful while the ACCESS indicator ison or flashing. Avoid recording in veryloud places. When using a shoulderstrap, do not allow the camcorder toswing and hit an object.• Keep the drop sensor activatedwhenever possible. This camcorderis equipped with a sensor thatdetects acceleration. Should thecamcorder be dropped or subject to asimilar condition, a mechanismdesigned to help prevent hard diskdamage will activate and recording/playback may stop or the camcordermay turn off. Deactivating thisfunction ( 99) can increase thelikelihood of hard disk damage shouldthe camcorder be subject to suchconditions. Even if this function is setto [ On], hard disk damage canoccur if the camcorder is dropped.• Do not use the camcorder in veryloud places. When using thecamcorder in extremely loudsurroundings, recording/playbackmay stop unexpectedly. In such case,you can continue recording on thememory card.• Do not disconnect the powersource while the camcorder is on.Always turn the camcorder off beforeremoving the battery pack orcompact power adapter.• Do not turn off the camcorder whilethe ACCESS indicator is on orflashing or while the camcorder isin standby mode.
