59Removing Jammed Paper fromthe ADFWhen the document jams in the ADF, the LCDdisplays , or TOO LONG>.1 Open the ADF and gently remove the jammedpaper from the ADF.2 Widen the document guides until they stop,and remove the paper so as not to be caught bythe guides. Open the ADF and gently removethe jammed paper from the ADF.3 Open the ADF and gently remove the jammedpaper from the document output tray.NOTEAfter removing jammed paper, even edges of thedocument before loading it in the ADF again.Paper Jam Behind the MachineIf the message and PRINTER COVER> appear in the LCD, remove thepaper using the following procedure.1 Open the face up cover.2 Tilt both the green pressure release lever onthe left and right side of the fuser unit towardsyou to release the pressure in the fuser unit.3 Remove the jammed paper.4 Return the green pressure release levers on thefuser unit to their original positions.5 Close the face up cover.6 Lift the scanning platform (A) and open thecartridge cover (B).7 Remove the drum cartridge from the machine.Pull the green handle on the drum cartridge in thedirection of the arrow.Lift the cartridge straight up.If paper is jammed in the removed drum cartridge, do nottry to pull the paper out forcefully but see Chapter 9“Paper Jam in the Drum Cartridge,” in the User’s Guide.8 Place the drum cartridge in the protective bag.9 Press the green lock release lever (A) andremove the jammed paper (B).10 Take the drum cartridge out of the protectivebag.11 Hold the drum cartridge with both hands andinstall it in the machine.Position the triangular mark on the drum cartridge withthe triangular mark on the machine and install the drumcartridge (A).Lock the drum cartridge by pushing it down toward youa.ABabABAa60
