120Transferring Memory Card Images to aComputerWith the supplied USB cable and Digital Video Software, you can transfer imagesrecorded on the memory card to the computer by simply pressing the (print/share)button ( 121).PreparationsThe first time you connect the camcorder to the computer, you need to install the softwareand set the auto-launch setting. From the second time on, you will only need to connectthe camcorder to the computer to transfer images.See Installing the Software in the Digital Video Software Instruction Manual.Available only in the mode.1. Install the supplied Digital Video Software.2. Connect the camcorder to the computer using the USB cable.See Connecting the Camcorder to a Computer in the Digital Video SoftwareInstruction Manual.3. Set the auto-launch setting.• See Starting CameraWindow in the Digital Video Software Instruction Manual.• The direct transfer menu appears on the camcorder screen and the buttonlights up. Do not disconnect the USB cable, open the memory card cover, remove thememory card, change the position of the TAPE/CARD switch or turn off thecamcorder and computer while data is being transferred to the computer (whilethe camcorder’s card access indicator is flashing). Doing so may damage thememory card’s data. Operation may not work correctly depending on the software and thespecifications/settings of your computer. The image files on your memory card and the image files saved on the harddisk drive of your computer are valuable, original data files. If you wish to useimage files on your computer, make copies of them first, and use the copied file,retaining the original. Make sure that the camcorder and computer are not connected with a DV cablebefore connecting the camcorder to the computer using the USB cable.Otherwise, the computer may not operate properly. We recommend powering the camcorder from a household power source whileit is connected to the computer. Refer also to the computer instruction manual.
