-35-Operation 4• Never place any part of body under cutting blade shield.Cutting• Always wear protective footwear, long trousers, hardhat, safety glasses andear protection when operating or servicing the machine. Proper clothing willminimize the chance of injury. Do not operate the equipment if you have longhair, loose clothing, or jewelry; all of which may get tangled in moving parts. Donot operate the machine barefoot or with open sandals.• Do not allow bystanders to come near machine when cutting.• Rotating cutting blades can throw stones or debris and cause injuries anddamages to nearby people, animals, crops, buildings, automobiles, etc. Payattention to the safety of surroundings and plan ahead when cutting.• Never attempt to cut with cutting blade shield open.• When cutting, drive forward. Machine is intended to cut brush while movingforward, and this best prevents stones and debris from being thrown.• Turn cutting rotary clutch to [ON] only when cutting. Keep it in [OFF] position allthe other times.• Never attempt to cut brush on the edge of a ditch or bank. Shoulder of the ditchor bank may collapse. Pay special attention after heavy rain or earthquake.• Inspect the work site beforehand; inspect terrain and locate holes, drops, orobstacles. Also inspect overhead obstacles such as the branches of a tree. Payspecial attention when working near these areas.
