800 SERIES USER MANUALPROGRAMMINGTurning the Lantern On or OffThe 800 Series lantern can be switched into thefollowing two basic operating modes:• On: The lantern is in standard operatingmode and will automatically transitionbetween “daytime” (LEDs off) and“evening/night-time” (LEDs on) as ambientlight levels change.• Off: The lantern is in an energy savingmode with the LEDs off. The lantern willreactivate with its last programmed settingsonly once turned “on” using the IRprogrammer and exposed to bright light.An additional “Continuous” mode is also available ondistributor demo units. Contactcustomerservice@carmanah.com for the activationcode for this mode. To exit continuous mode selectOn or Off in the Stat menu.To turn the lantern on or off:1. If you have not already done so,establish a connection to the lantern.2. The lantern LEDs will flash to confirmthe lantern is ready to receivecommands.3. Press and hold the power button forapproximately five seconds until theLED display changes to show “stAtOn” or “byE”.Setting the Flash CharacterA complete list of available Flash Characters isprovided in Appendix A.1. If you have not already done so,establish a connection to thelantern.2. The lantern LEDs will flash toconfirm the lantern is ready toreceive commands.or3. Navigate to the FLSH menu orpress the (A) button to jump directlyto this function4. Unlock the existing setting5. Use the number keys to direct enterthe desired Flash Character (seeAppendix A).6. Lock the new setting7. The lantern LEDs will flash toconfirm that the new setting hasbeen locked.The 800 Series has intelligentsettings to prevent the lantern fromoperating with certain FlashCharacter and Effective Intensitycombinations. Effective Intensity maybe automatically lowered when youchange Flash Characters.
