than 17 percent to minimize the potential for condensation in theventing system. These furnaces are approved for common ventingand multi-story venting with other fan assisted or draft hoodequipped appliances in accordance with the NFCG or the NSC-NGPIC.The following information and warning must be considered inaddition to the requirements defined in the NFGC and theNSCNGPIC.Do not bypass the draft safeguard switch, as an unsafecondition could exist which must be corrected. Failure tofollow this warning could result in a build-up of carbonmonoxide and lead to personal injury or death.1. If a vent (common or dedicated) becomes blocked, the furnacewill be shut off by the draft safeguard switch located on thevent elbow.2. Two-stage furnaces require Type B vent connectors outsidethe casing in all configurations. Single wall vent connectormay be used inside the furnace casing with the transition toType B vent outside the furnace casing. Size the connector sothat the minimum vent connector capacity is lower than thelow fire rate of the furnace and the maximum vent connectorcapacity is higher than the furnace high fire rate.3. Do not connect this appliance to a single wall dedicated orcommon vent. The dedicated or common vent is considered tobe the vertical portion of the vent system that terminatesoutdoors.4. Vent connectors serving Category I furnaces shall not beconnected into any portion of a mechanical draft systemoperating under positive pressure.5. In the US: Do not vent this appliance with any solid fuelburning appliance. In Canada, check with the authority havingjurisdiction for approval on use with solid fuel burningappliance.6. Category I furnaces must be vented vertically or nearlyvertically unless equipped with a listed power ventor.7. Do not vent this appliance into an unlined masonry chimney.Refer to Chimney Inspection Chart, Fig. 32.MASONRY CHIMNEY REQUIREMENTSThese furnaces are CSA design-certified for use in exteriortile-lined masonry chimneys with a factory accessory Chim-ney Adapter Kit. Refer to the furnace rating plate for correctkit usage. The Chimney Adapter Kits are for use with ONLYfurnaces having a Chimney Adapter Kit numbers marked onthe furnace rating plate. If a clay tile-lined masonry chimney is being used and it is exposedto the outdoors below the roof line, relining might be required.Chimneys shall conform to the Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces,Vents, and Soild Fuel Burning Appliances ANSI/NFPA 211-2000in the United States and to a Provincial or Territorial BuildingCode in Canada (in its absence, the National Building Code ofCanada) and must be in good condition.U.S.A.-Refer to Sections 13.1.9 and 13.2.20 of the NFGC or theauthority having jurisdiction to determine whether relining isrequired. If relining is required, use a properly sized listed metalliner, Type-B vent, or a listed alternative venting design.NOTE: See the NFGC, 13.2.20 regarding alternative ventingdesign and the exception, which cover installations such as ourChimney Adapter Kits KGACA02014FC and KGACA02015FC,which are listed for use with these furnaces. The Chimney Adapter Kit is a listed alternative venting system forthese furnaces. See the kit instructions for complete details.Canada-This furnace is permitted to be vented into a claytile-lined masonry chimney that is exposed to the outdoors belowthe roof line, provided:1. Vent connector is Type-B double-wall, and2. This furnace is common vented with at least 1 draft hood-equipped appliance, and3. The combined appliance input rating is less than the maximumcapacity given in Table A, and4. The input rating of each space heating appliance is greaterthan the minimum input rating given in Table B for the localwinter design temperature. Chimneys having internal areasgreater than 38 square inches require furnace input ratingsgreater than the input ratings of these furnaces. See footnote atbottom of Table B, and5. The authority having jurisdiction approves. If all of these conditions cannot be met, an alternative ventingdesign shall be used, such as the listed chimney adapter kit with afurnace listed for use with the kit, a listed chimney-lining system,or a Type-B common vent.23→→
