ADDITIONAL VENTING REQUIREMENTSA 4″ round vent elbow is supplied with the furnace. A 5 inch or 6inch vent connector maybe required for some model furnaces. Afield-supplied 4 inch to 5 inch or 4 inch to 6 inch sheet metalincreaser fitting is required when 5 inch or 6 inch vent connectoris used. See Fig. 34-46, Venting Orientation for approved ventconfigurations.NOTE: Vent connector length for connector sizing starts atfurnace vent elbow. The 4 inch vent elbow is shipped for upflowconfiguration and may be rotated for other positions. Remove the3 screws that secure vent elbow to furnace, rotate furnace ventelbow to position desired, re-install screws. The factory-suppliedvent elbow does NOT count as part of the number of ventconnector elbows. The vent connector can exit the door through one of 5 locations onthe door.1. Attach the single wall vent connector to the furnace ventelbow, and fasten the vent connector to the vent elbow with atleast two field-supplied, corrosion-resistant, sheet metalscrews located 180° apart.2. Vent the furnace with the appropriate connector as shown inFig 34-46.Personal injury can result form sharp metal edges, etc. Becareful when removing parts. Gloves and safety glassesshould be worn when servicing equipment.3. Orient the door to determine the correct location of the doorcutout to be removed.4. Use aviation-type tin snips to remove the correct U-shapedcut-out on door.SEE NOTES: 1,2,4,7,8,9A02064Fig. 40—Horizontal Left Application-Vent Elbow LeftFig. 41—Horizontal Left Application-Vent Elbow Rightthen UpA02065SEE NOTES: 1,2,4,5,7,8,9SEE NOTES: 1,2,4,5,7,8,9A02066Fig. 42—Horizontal Left Application-Vent Elbow UpSEE NOTES: 1,2,4,5,7,8,9A02067Fig. 43—Horizontal Left Application-Vent Elbow RightVenting Notes for Figure 34-461. For common vent, vent connector sizing and vent material: United States, latest edition of the National Fuel Gas Code (NFGC), ANSIZ223.1/NFPA 54. In Canada, latest edition of the National Standards of Canada, Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code (NSCNGPIC), CSAB149.1-00.2. Immediately increase to 5–inch or 6-inch vent connector ourside furnace casing when 5-inch vent connector required, refer to Note 1 above.3. Side outlet vent for upflow and downflow installaitons must use Type B vent immediately after exiting the furnace, except whenKGAVG0101DFG, Accessory downflow vent gurad kit, is used in the downflow position.4. Type-B vent where required, refer to Note 1 above.5. 4” single-wall (26 ga. min.) vent must be used inside furnace casing and when the KGAVG0101DFG Downflow Vent Guard Kit is used externalto the furnace.6. Accessory Downflow Vent Guard Kit, KGAVG0101DFG required in downflow installations with lower vent configuration.7. Chimney Adapter Kit required for exterior masonry chimney applications. Refer to Chimney Adapter Kit, KGACA02014FC orKGACA02015FC, for sizing and complete application details.8. Secure vent connector to furnace elbow with (2) corrosion-resistant sheet metal screws, spaced approximately 180° apart.9. Secure all other single wall vent connector joints with (3) corrosion resistant screws spaced approximately 120° apart. Secure Type-B ventconnectors per vent connector manufacturer’s recommendations.26
