The cabinet MUST have an uninterrupted or unbroken groundaccording to NEC ANSI/NFPA 70-2002 and Canadian Elec-trical Code CSA C22.1 or local codes to minimize personalinjury if an electrical fault should occur. This may consist ofelectrical wire or conduit approved for electrical ground wheninstalled in accordance with existing electrical codes. Do notuse gas piping as an electrical ground. Failure to follow thiswarning could result in electric shock, fire, or death.J-Box Relocation1. Remove 2 screws holding auxiliary J-box. (See Fig. 30.)2. Rotate J-box 180° and attach box to left side, using holesprovided. If manual disconnect switch is to be mounted on furnace, select a location where a drill or fastener will not contactelectrical or gas components.Step 2—24-v WiringMake field 24-v thermostat connections at 24-v terminal block onfurnace control. Y wire from thermostat MUST be connected toY/Y2 terminal on control, as shown in Fig. 28, for proper coolingoperation. The 24-v terminal block is marked for easy connectionof field wiring. (See Fig. 32.) The 24-v circuit contains a 3-amp,automotive-type fuse located on furnace control. (See Fig. 32.)Any electrical shorts of 24-v wiring during installation, service, ormaintenance may cause fuse to blow. If fuse replacement isrequired, use only a fuse of identical size (3 amp) and type. Thefurnace control will flash status code 24 when fuse needs replace-ment.NOTE: Use AWG No. 18 color-coded copper thermostat wire forlengths up to 100 ft. For wire lengths over 100 ft, use AWG No.16 wire.TABLE 5—APPROVED COMBUSTION-AIR AND VENT PIPE, FITTING AND CEMENT MATERIALSASTM SPECIFICATION(MARKED ON MATERIAL) MATERIAL PIPE FITTINGS SOLVENT CEMENT AND PRIMERS DESCRIPTIOND1527 ABS Pipe — — Schedule-40D1785 PVC Pipe — — Schedule-40D2235 For ABS — — SolventCement For ABSD2241 PVC Pipe — — SDR-21 & SDR-26D2466 PVC — Fittings — Schedule-40D2468 ABS — Fittings — Schedule-40D2564 For PVC — — SolventCement For PVCD2661 ABS Pipe Fittings — DWV at Schedule-40 IPS sizesD2665 PVC Pipe Fittings — DWVF438 CPVC — Fittings — Schedule-40F441 CPVC Pipe — — Schedule-40F442 CPVC Pipe — — SDRF493 For CPVC — — SolventCement For CPVCF628 ABS Pipe — — Cellular Core DWV at Schedule-40 IPS sizesF656 For PVC — — Primer For PVCF891 PVC Pipe — — Cellular Core Schedule-40 & DWVDo not connect aluminum wire between disconnect switchand furnace.
