3413 - START-UP13.1 - Preliminary checks• Never be tempted to start the chiller without readingfully, and understanding, the operating instructions andwithout having carried out the following pre-start checks:• Check the chilled water circulation pump operationwith the Quick Test function.• Check the air handling units and all other equipmentconnected to the evaporator. Refer to the manufacturer’sinstructions.• Check the condensing loop water circulation pumpoperation with the Quick Test function.• For units without hydronic module, the water pumpoverheat protection devices must be connected inseries with the pump contactor power supply.• Ensure that there are no refrigerant leaks.• Confirm that all pipe securing bands are tight.• Confirm the the electrical connections are secure.13.2 - Actual start-upIMPORTANT• Commissioning and start-up of the chiller must besupervised by a qualified refrigeration engineer.• Start-up and operating tests must be carried out witha thermal load applied and water circulating in theevaporator.• All set-point adjustments and control tests must becarried out before the unit is started up.The unit should be started up in Local ON mode. For 30RWA units operating with a remote air-cooledcondenser the compressor oil level must be monitoredduring the system start-up phase. This is to ensure that theoil charge of the original compressors is sufficient for thesystem size and the piping configuration. Once the oil levelhas stabilised, it must not be lower than 1/4 of the oil sightglass level. An additional oil quantity may be necessaryfor piping lengths (supply/return) exceeding 200 mm.Ensure that all safety devices are operational, especiallythat the high pressure switches are switched on and thatthe alarms are acknowledged.13.3 - Operation of two units in master/slave modeThe control of a master/slave assembly is in the enteringwater piping (system return) and does not require anyadditional sensors (standard configuration). For 30RW160-300 units, it can also be located in the leaving water. Inthis case two additional sensors must be added on the com-mon piping. All parameters, required for the master/slavefunction must be configured using the Service Configura-tion menu. All remote controls of the master/slave assembly (start/stop,set point, load shedding etc.) are controlled by the unitconfigured as master and must only be applied to themaster unit.IMPORTANT: The two units must be equipped withoption No. 155 - CCN time scheduling and communica-tions “Clock Board”.Depending on the installation and control type, each unit cancontrol its own water pump. If there is only one commonpump for the two units, the master unit can control this. Inthis case shut-off valves must be installed on each unit. Theywill be activated at the opening and closing by the controlof each unit (and the valves will be controlled using thededicated water pump outputs).30RW/RWA 020 to 300 (standard configuration:return water control)30RW/RWA 160 to 300 (with configuration: leavingwater control)legend1 Master unit2 Slave unitAdditional CCN board (one per unit, with connection via communication bus)Control boxes of the master and slave unitsWater inletWater outletWater pumps for each unit (included as standard for units with hydronicmodule)Additional sensors for leaving water control, to be connected to channel 1of the slave boards of each master and slave unitCCN communication busConnection of two additional sensors1 21 2
