2 Designated UseThe class 911 is a sewing unit that is designated for the sewing oflight to medium-heavy material. Such material is generally made oftextile fibers, composite materials but it may also consist of leather.Suchlike material is used in the clothing industry and for domestic andmotor-vehicle upholstery. This sewing unit can also be used to produce so-called technicalseams. In this case however, the operator must assess the possibledangers which may arise (DÜRKOPP ADLER AG will be happy to offerits assistance), since such applications are relatively rare and at thesame time can be so varied that no single set of criteria can coverthem all. The outcome of this assessment may require appropriatesafety measures to be taken.Generally only dry material may be sewn with this sewing unit. Thematerial may be no thicker than 4 mm when compressed by thelowered workclamp. The material may not contain any hard objects. The seam is generally produced with textile-fibre sewing thread(cotton threads, synthetic yarns of covering yarns) with the followingdimensions:Class 911 thread thickness 15/3 - 120/3Before using any other thread the possible dangers arising have to beassessed and appropriate safety measures if necessary taken. This sewing unit may be set up and operated only in dry,well-maintained premises. If the sewing unit is used inpremises which are not dry and well-maintained it may benecessary to take further precautions which should be agreed inadvance (see EN 60204-31:1999).As manufacturers of industrial sewing machines we proceed on theassumption that personnel who work on our products will havereceived training at least sufficient to acquaint them with all normaloperations and with any hazards which these may involve.3 SubclassesCl. 911-210 CNC-controlled sewing unit based on the class 867 with large sewingarea (sewing field size 300 x 200 mm) and a DAC III control unit withspecial software.15
