9Installation InstructionsElectrical ConnectionWARNING• If the electrical service provided does not meet theElectrical Specifications (see page 4), do notproceed with the installation. Call a licensed electricianto correctly install the required wiring.• Failure to disconnect power prior to installation mayresult in an electrical shock or fire hazard.• Do not turn on power to the appliance until the oven isproperly grounded according to these instructions.• The installer must connect the ground terminal (orlead) on the appliance to a grounded, metallic, perma-nent wiring system or grounding conductor. Failure todo so may result in an electric shock hazard.• Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. Suchuse may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.• Do not install a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit. Afuse in the neutral or ground circuit may result in anelectric shock hazard.• The appliance must be connected to the power supplywith copper wire only. The use of aluminum wire mayresult in unsatisfactory conditions.IMPORtANtProvide slack in the conduit to allow the oven to slide for-ward for servicing.NOtEThe electrical connection leads from the supplied appli-ance conduit may be a smaller gage than the standardhousehold wiring of the dedicated supply circuit. Theyare suitable for connection to household wiring under thejurisdiction of the National Electric Code, and/or the localinspection authority.1. Before proceeding, turn off power to the circuit to whichthe oven will be connected at the circuit breaker or fusebox.2. Position the oven directly in front of the cabinet cut out.3. Feed the appliance conduit into the electrical junctionbox and attach it using a UL approved strain relief.4. Depending upon local codes, utilize one of three meth-ods to connect the appliance to the electrical power:◊ Connect to a four wire electrical system◊ Connect to a three wire electrical system, wherelocal codes permit◊ Connect to a three wire electrical system withexternal ground, according to local codes.See pages 9 to 11 for detailed directions.Connecting to a Four Wire ElectricalSystem1. Separate the wires coming out of the appliance conduit.2. Connect the white wire from the appliance conduit tothe white (neutral) supply wire in the junction box.3. Connect the black wire from the appliance conduit tothe black (L1) supply wire in the junction box.4. Connect the red wire from the appliance conduit to thered (L2) supply wire in the junction box.5. Connect the green wire from the appliance conduit tothe green (ground) wire in the junction box.continued...Incoming powerREDRED WHITEWHITEGREENGREEN BLACKBLACKWire nut,4 placesJunction boxConduit toovenFour Wire Connection
