English 12MALFUNCTIONS NOT RELATED9.TO HEAT PUMPThe following symptoms do not indicate heat pumpmalfunctionTHE SYSTEM DOES NOT OPERATEI.The system does not restart immediately•after the ON/OFF button is pressed.If the OPERATION lamp lights, the system is innormal condition.It does not restart immediately because asafety device operates to prevent overload ofthe system. After 3 minutes, the system willturn on again automatically.The system does not restart immediately•when TEMPERATURE SETTING button isreturned to the former position after push-ing the button.If the OPERATION lamp lights, the system is innormal condition.It does not restart immediately because asafety device operates to prevent overload ofthe system. After 3 minutes, the system willturn on again automatically.The system does not start when the display•shows “ ” and it fl ashes for few sec-onds after pressing an operation button.This is because the system is under central-ized control. Flashes on the display indicatethat the system cannot be controlled by theremote controller.The system does not start immediately•after the power supply is turned on.Wait one minute until the micro computer isprepared for operation.The fan speed is different from the setting.II.Pressing the fan speed control button does•not change the fan speed.When the room temperature reaches the set•temperature in heating mode, the outdoor unitstops and the indoor unit switches to whispermode. This is to prevent the cool air from beingblown directly onto anyone in the room.To protect electric parts, the unit operates with•the airfl ow rate at H speed during ELECTRICHEATER operation regardless of the remotecontroller indication.WHITE MIST COMES OUT OF A UNITIII.When humidity is high during cooling op-•eration (In oily or dusty places)If the inside of an indoor unit is extremely con-taminated, the temperature distribution inside aroom becomes uneven. It is necessary to cleanthe inside of the indoor unit. Ask your Daikindealer for details on cleaning the unit. Thisoperation requires a qualifi ed service person.When the system is changed over to HEAT-•ING OPERATION after DEFROST OPERA-TION.Moisture generated by DEFROST becomessteam.NOISE OF HEAT PUMPIV.A ringing sound after the unit is started.•This sound is generated by the temperatureregulator working.It will quiet down after about a minute.A continuous “Whoosh” is heard when the•system is in COOLING or DEFROST OP-ERATION.This is the sound of refrigerant gas fl owingthrough both indoor and outdoor units.A “Whoosh” sound is heard at the start or•immediately after the stop of operation andat the start or immediately after the stop ofDEFROST OPERATION.This is the noise of refrigerant caused by fl owstop and fl ow change.A continuous flow “Whoosh” sound is•heard when the system is in COOLING OP-ERATION or at a stop.The noise is heard when the drain pump is inoperation.DUST FROM THE UNITSV.Dust may blow out from the unit after start-•ing operation after not being used for awhile.Dust absorbed by the unit blows out.THE UNITS GIVE OFF ODORSVI.The unit absorbs the smell of rooms, furniture,cigarettes, etc., and then emits them.THE LIQUID CRYSTAL OF THE REMOTEVII.CONTROLLER DISPLAY “Checking theconnection. Please stand by”This occurs immediately after the main•power supply switch is turned on.This indicates that the remote controller is innormal condition and continues temporarily.
