Actions where the se-quential order must be maintained are numbered.è Results of actions are identified with an arrow.1.2 Safety instructions for installationand operation1.2.1 GeneralWARNINGHeaters that have not been set up and installed correctlycan impair the function of the heater and/or cause seriousor fatal injuries to the user.▪ Work on the GCU compact (such as set-up, inspection,connection and initial commissioning) must only be car-ried out by persons who are authorised and who havesuccessfully completed qualifying technical or voca-tional training and who have taken part in advancedtraining sessions recognised by the relevant authoritiesresponsible for the specific activity. These include, inparticular, certified heating engineers, qualified elec-tricians and HVAC specialists who, , because of theirprofessional training and their expertise, have experi-ence with the professional installation and maintenanceof heating systems, gas installations and hot water stor-age tanks.▪ Switch off the external main switch before starting anywork on the GCU compact and secure it against uninten-tional switch-on.▪ Do not leave any tools or other objects below the hoodof the device after finishing installation or maintenancework.Avoiding dangerThe GCU compact conforms to the state of the art and meets all re-cognised technical requirements. However, improper use may resultin serious physical injuries or death as well as property damage. Toprevent such risks, only install and operate the devices:▪ as stipulated and in perfect condition,▪ with an awareness of safety and the dangers involved.This assumes knowledge and use of the contents of this manual, therelevant accident prevention regulations and the recognised safety-related and occupational health rules.Before working on the heating system▪ Only authorised and trained heating technicians may work on theheating system (such as installation, connection and initial com-missioning).▪ Switch off the main switch and secure it against unintendedswitch-on when carrying out any work on the heating system.▪ Seals must not be damaged or removed.▪ Make sure that the safety valves comply with the requirements ofEN 12828 when connecting on the heating side and with the re-quirements of EN 12897 when connecting on the domestic waterside.
