20 • Installing the Genie Camera Genie Monochrome Series-GigE Vision CameraGenie CD Package InstallationThe Genie Framework software package and Sapera runtime provides all components required to control the Geniewith the supplied CamExpert tool. Genie Framework software components include the Network Imaging driver, theSapera GigE server, and CamExpert (if Sapera LT library is not installed).Note: If Sapera application development is required, install Sapera (6.0 or later) as described in the previoussection.Procedure• Insert the DALSA Genie CD-ROM. If AUTORUN is enabled on your computer, the Genie installation menu ispresented.• If AUTORUN is not enabled, use Windows Explorer and browse to the root directory of the CD-ROM.Execute launch.exe to start the installation menu and install the Genie software components.• Click to install the Genie Framework Software which includes the Network Imaging driver, and the SaperaGigE server.• The procedure will prompt for acceptance of the installation folder for the Genie files.• If desired, click to install Sapera LT run-time which includes CamExpert. Follow the on screen prompts andreboot when the installation is complete.GigE Server VerificationAfter a successful Genie software package installation, the GigE Server icon is visible in the desktop taskbar trayarea. The Genie camera must be on the same subnet as the NIC to be recognized by the GigE Server.Device Available Device IP Error Device Not AvailableGigE ServerTray Icon:The GigE server tray iconwhen the Genie device isfound. It will take a fewseconds for the GigE Server torefresh its state after the Geniehas obtained an IP address.The GigE server tray iconshows a warning when a deviceis connected but there is sometype of IP error.A red X will remain over theGigE server tray icon when theGenie device is not found. Thisindicates a major networkissue.If you place your mouse cursor on this icon, the GigE Server will display the number of GigE Vision devices foundby your PC. Right click the icon and select status to view information about those devices. See "Running theNetwork Configuration Tool" on page 26 and "Troubleshooting" on page 101for more information.
