VLT ® 8000 AQUAIntroductionThe voltage of the frequency converteris dangerous whenever the equipmentis connected to mains. Incorrectinstallation of the motor or the frequency convertermay cause damage to the equipment, seriouspersonal injury or death.Consequently, the instructions in this manual,as well as national and local rules and safetyregulations, must be complied with.■ Safety regulations1. The frequency converter must be disconnectedfrom the mains if repair work is to be carried out.Check that the mains supply has been disconnectedand that the necessary time has passed beforeremoving motor and mains plugs.2. The [OFF/STOP] key on the control panel ofthe frequency converter does not disconnectthe equipment from mains and is thus not tobe used as a safety switch.3. Correct protective earthing/grounding of theequipment must be established, the user must beprotected against supply voltage, and the motormust be protected against overload in accordancewith the National Electrical Code and local codes.4. The earth leakage currents are higher than 3.5mA.5. Protection against motor overload is not included inthe factory setting. If this function is required, setparameter 117, Motor thermal protection, to datavalue ETR trip or data value ETR warning.Note: The function is initialised at 1.0 x rated motorcurrent and rated motor frequency (see parameter117, Motor thermal protection). In UL/cULapplications ETR provides Class 20, over-loadprotection in accordance with the NEC ® .6. Do not remove the plugs for the motor andmains supply while the frequency converter isconnected to mains. Check that the mains supplyhas been disconnected and that the necessary timehas passed before removing motor and mains plugs.7. Please note that the frequency converter has morevoltage inputs than L1, L2, L3 when the DC-busterminals or AUX 24 V option are used.Check that all voltage inputs have beendisconnected and that the necessary time haspassed before repair work is commenced.■ Warning against unintended start1. The motor can be brought to a stop by meansof digital commands, bus commands, referencesor a local stop, while the frequency converteris connected to mains. If personal safetyconsiderations make it necessary to ensurethat no unintended start occurs, these stopfunctions are not sufficient.2. While parameters are being changed, the motormay start. Consequently, the stop key [OFF/STOP] must always be activated, followingwhich data can be modified.3. A stopped motor may start if a fault occurs inthe electronics of the frequency converter, orif a temporary overload or a fault in the supplymains or the motor connection ceases.176FA159.15Warning:Touching the electrical parts may be fatal - even after the equipment hasbeen disconnected from line.VLT 8006-8062, 200-240 V: wait at least 15 minutesVLT 8006-8072, 380-480 V: wait at least 15 minutesVLT 8102-8352, 380-480 V: wait at least 20 minutesVLT 8452-8652, 380-480 V: wait at least 40 minutesVLT 8002-8006, 525-600 V: wait at least 4 minutesVLT 8008-8027, 525-600 V: wait at least 15 minutesVLT 8032-8072, 525-600 V: wait at least 30 minutesVLT 8052-8402, 525-690 V: wait at least 20 minutesVLT 8502-8652, 525-690 V: wait at least 30 minutesMG.83.A2.02 - VLT is a registered Danfoss trademark 7
