Configuring VME Option Boards2-34 014–001867Determining the Board’s Current OrientationIf you received your VSA board factory-installed in your AViiON computer, itshould be configured as you need it. The board has a tag attached to one of itshandles, on which the orientation of the ports is labeled at the factory (see Figure2–13). Each SCSI port will be labeled S.E. (for single-ended) or DIFF (fordifferential), so you will not have to remove the VSA board to determine theorientation of the daughter boards.Board componentsFigure 2–13 Labeled SCSI PortsNOTE: Figure 2–13 is accurate only for customer-installable AViiON systems withno more than two 6U VME option slots. The instructions in this manualthat deal with installing and/or removing the VSA board do not apply tosystems in which the VSA board mounts in a 6U-to-9U adapter beforeinstallation. If you must install the VSA board yourself, or if the daughter boards are notoriented the way you need them, you will have to position the daughter boards andfill in the label yourself. Each daughter board has the abbreviations S.E. and DIFFsilk-screened onto opposite corners. The corner that is adjacent to the SCSIconnector shows which way the board is oriented. For example, Figure 2–14 showsone daughter board positioned for single-ended operation and one positioned fordifferential.
