CONFIGURATION 44.9 USB READER CONFIGURATIONThe USB interface is available for Dragon D131, OM-30x0 and C-3000 devices andis compatible with the following Operating Systems:Windows 98 (and later) IBM POS for WindowsMac OS 8.0 (and later) 4690 Operating SystemUSB Start-upAs with all USB devices, upon connection, the Host performs several checks bycommunicating with the device. During this phase normal operations are suspended(the LED on the Dragon™ D131 reader blinks). Two basic conditions must be metbefore the device is ready, the correct USB driver must be loaded and sufficientpower must be supplied to the reader.c For all systems, the correct USB driver for thedefault USB-KBD interface is included in theHost Operating System and will either be loadedautomatically or will be suggested by the O.S.and should therefore be selected from the dialogbox (the first time only).Connect device toHostSelect desired USBinterface code(USB-KBD is default)Read test codes.Device is READYLoad drivers(if requested)Load drivers(if requested)reader LED blinksreader LED off - BEEP OKFirst Start-Up12Normally the Host supplies sufficient power tothe device and the start-up phase endscorrectly. (The reader's LED stops blinking andthe reader emits the beep OK signal).In rare cases, if the Host does not supplysufficient power to the device, a dialog box willappear on the Host and the device will beblocked (the reader's LED continues blinking). Inthis case, disconnect the USB device cable atthe Host (the reader's LED stops blinking), andthen try a different USB port as indicated by theOperating System message. (The device emitsthe beep OK signal. You can now read codes).d At this point you can read the USB interface configuration code according to yourapplication. Load drivers from the O.S. (if requested). When configuring the USB-COM interface, the relevant files and drivers must be installed from the USB DeviceInstallation software which can be downloaded from the web pagehttp://www.datalogic.com.The device is ready. Successive start-ups will automatically recognize the previouslyloaded drivers.31
