INSTALLATION 22.6.2 Pass ThroughWhen Pass Through is activated on the Auxiliary interface, the DS8100A reader can beintegrated in a network consisting of different scanners not provided with a Lonworksinterface. This connection mode allows two or more devices to be connected to a single external serialinterface. The DS8100A transmits the messages received by its auxiliary interface onto itsmain interface. In this configuration a series of scanners can be connected together using RS232 on themain interface and all messages will be passed through this chain to the host. The readingphase of each scanner is independent from the others. In Pass Through connections eachscanner is provided with its relative External Trigger (multi P.S.).Applications can be implemented to connect a device such as a hand-held reader to theAuxiliary port for manual code reading capability. For the RS232 connections the maximum cable length is 15 m (50 ft).The DS4600A scanners represented in the following figures are configured in Pass Throughmode.P.S.* P.S.*GryphonDS4600A DS4600ADS8100A CAB601XC-BOX 100 C-BOX 100C-BOX 100AUX.MAINP.S.*2 1 2 11 Local HostPWR-120* P.S.
