Class Series Programmer’s Manual 227Appendix JGeneral Purpose Input Output (GPIO) Port ApplicationsGPIO and Applicator Interface Card equipped printers can easily interface with most external controllingdevices. Function and setting preferences can be stored in non-volatile memory for subsequent power-upsusing the menu system of the printer, or via Kc commands.Printing with GPIO: When the GPIO functions are enabled, the printer will not print a label until the“Start of Print” signal goes active.; Note: When a label is ready to print but awaiting a Start of Print signal, the prompting operation differs slightlydepending upon equipment:• Non-Display Models – The STOP LED will flash.• Display-Equipped Models – The display will indicate “WAITING FOR SIGNAL.”CAUTIONAlways wear a wrist strap and follow ESD prevention measures when handling the GPIO orApplicator Interface Card. For specification information, reference the printer Maintenance Manual.Functions vary according to printer model and card type, as discussed below.M-Class GPIOThe connection to the GPIO signals can be accessed via the Option Port connector on the front of theprinter, or via the Main CCA:Option Port Connector(as viewed when facing the front of the printer)Main CCA Connector J6(as viewed when facing the component side of theMain CCA)8 6 4 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 87 5 3 1
