HD / SD Recorder HDR-7020GPI ControlGPI Trigger cabling and circuitThe recorder has a GPI socket on its rear panel. TheGPI circuit runs on less than 5V DC. This power issupplied by the recorders GPI port. You will need tomanufacture a GPI trigger cable to create a simple‘contact on closure’ button or similar trigger.Depending on the settings of the recorder and the GPImenu option this unit can be configured to Record /Record Pause or Play / Play Pause with the currentvideo BIN.SET GPIUse the LCD menu path [MENU] > SET UP >SYSTEM SET UP > SET GPI.You can then make a choice between the PULSE orLEVEL trigger. The selected choice is marked with anasterisk [*].PULSE trigger Record processUsing the Clip Status Display and soft keys, select anempty video BIN. Make sure the source device isconnected and working and the target file type on therecorder has been chosen. Press and hold in the Recordbutton on the front panel and then press the Play button.This should start the record process. The button on theconnected GPI cabling is then pressed forcing the unitinto record pause mode. The unit is then ready toactivate record on the next press of the contact closurebutton. Each time the recorder starts recording a newclip will be added to the bin [ Max 99 CLIPS per BIN ].Press the stop button on the front panel of the recorderto end the recording process.LEVEL trigger Record processUsing the Clip Status Display and soft keys, select anempty video BIN. Make sure the source device isconnected and working and the target file type on therecorder has been chosen. Press and hold in the Recordbutton on the front panel and then press the Play button.This should start the record process. The button on theconnected GPI cabling is then pressed forcing the unitinto record pause mode for the length of the press.However, when the button is released the recordingprocess starts again. Each time the recorder startsrecording a new clip will be added to the bin [ Max 99CLIPS per BIN ]. Press the stop button on the frontpanel of the recorder to end the recording process.The contact closure button may be working in theopposite way to the type of action you want to perform.A mechanical change to the GPI contact closure triggershould fix this. (Example: when pressed down thecircuit is broken and recording starts. When released thecontact is made causing the pause action.)Note: You may a have a couple of seconds footage atthe beginning of the bin that you may wish to removelater once the footage is transferred to a computer forediting.PULSE trigger Playback processUsing the Clip Status Display and soft keys, select apre-recorded video BIN. Make sure the output device/monitor is connected and working with the recorder.Press in the Play button on the recorder’s front panel.This should start the playback. The button on theconnected GPI cabling is then pressed forcing the unitinto play pause mode. The unit is then ready to playbackfrom this point on the next press of the contact closurebutton. Press the stop button on the front panel of therecorder to end playback of the video.LEVEL trigger Playback processUsing the Clip Status Display and soft keys, select apre-recorded video BIN.
