Solving Problems 95Reinstalling Microsoft ® Windows ® XPBefore You ReinstallIf you are reinstalling the Windows XP operating system to correct aproblem with a newly installed driver, use Windows XP Device DriverRollback (see page 89) to replace the device driver with the previouslyinstalled version.If Device Driver Rollback does not resolve the problem, then use SystemRestore (see page 93) to return your operating system to the operating stateit was in before you installed the new device driver.Reinstalling Windows XPTo reinstall Windows XP, perform the steps in the following sections in theorder in which they are listed.The reinstallation process can take 1 to 2 hours to complete. After thereinstallation is complete, you need to reinstall the device drivers, virusprotection program, and other software.NOTICE: TheOperating System CD provides options for reinstallingWindows XP. The options can overwrite files and possibly affect programsinstalled on your hard drive.
