For more information about the commands, see thePowerConnect 7000 Series CLI Reference Guide atsupport.dell.com/manuals.Configuring Port SettingsBeginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands toconfigure various port settings.Command Purposeconfigure Enter Global Configuration mode.interfaceinterface Enter interface configuration mode for the specifiedinterface. Theinterface variable includes the interface typeand number, for example gigabitethernet 1/0/3.You can also specify a range of interfaces with the interfacerange command, for example, interface rangegigabitethernet 1/0/8-12 configures interfaces 8, 9, 10, 11,and 12.descriptionstring Add a description to the port. The text string can befrom1-64 characters.shutdown Administratively disable the interface.speed {10|100|1000|10000 | auto[100|1000|10000]}Configure the speed of a given Ethernet interface or allowthe interface to automatically detect the speed.If you use the 10, 100, or 1000 keywords with the autokeyword, the port auto negotiates only at the specifiedspeeds.On combo ports, it is possible to configure autonegotiation even if only the fiber interface is active. Theauto negotiation settings will be utilized when the copperport is active. Auto negotiation settings are ignored for thefiber ports.
