4-22 Dell PowerEdge 4200 Systems Service ManualWhen installing DIMMs, follow these guidelines:• Install a DIMM in socket DIMM_A before socket DIMM_B, socketDIMM_B before socket DIMM_C, and so on.• If you install different sizes of DIMMs, install them in order of descendingcapacity, beginning with socket DIMM_A.• DIMMs need not be installed in pairs.To install a DIMM module, use the following procedure:1. Push outward on the securing clip at each end of the socket until theclips snap open.2. Orient the DIMM to the socket, and press the DIMM straight downinto the socket slot until the securing clips snap into place around bothends of the DIMM.Figure 4-22. Your particular com-puter may be equipped with dual microprocessors (two SEC cartridge/heat sinkassemblies) or a single microprocessor and a terminator card. If performing adual-processor upgrade, you must first remove the terminator card as describedin the following procedure:1. Using the thumb and index finger of each hand, squeeze together thetwo locking mechanisms on the ends of the retaining clip to release theretaining clip from the guide bracket assembly (see Figure 4-23);remove the clip.2.
