Damage due to servicing that is not authorized is not covered bywarranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.1 Remove the sled from the enclosure. See "Removing a Sled" on page 155.2 Open the sled. See "Removing the Front and Back Sled Covers" onpage 176 or "Removing the Sled Cover" on page 181.3 Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" onpage 276.4 Remove the heat sink. See "Removing a Heat Sink" on page 278.CAUTION: The processor is held in its socket under strong pressure. Be awarethat the release lever can spring up suddenly if not firmly grasped.5 Position your thumb firmly over the processor hook-shaped socket-releaselever and release the lever from the locked position. Do not force the leverup to the fully open position. See Figure 3-98.6 Position your thumb firmly over the bent load lever and release the leverfrom the locked position. Rotate the lever 90 degrees upward to lift theprocessor shield. See Figure 3-98.7 Rotate the processor shield upward and out of the way. See Figure 3-98.8 Lift the processor out of the socket and leave the socket-release lever andload lever up so that the socket is ready for the new processor.See Figure 3-98.CAUTION: The processor is held in its socket under strong pressure.
